Mountain View Academy pushed their score all the way to 63 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 70-63 to East Palo Alto Academy.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Caleb Penaflorida, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ezekiel Olds, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, DCP Alum Rock didn't have too much breathing room in their game against El Primero on Monday, but they still walked away with a 54-48 victory.
The match pitted two key players against one another: Tony Clarida and JOSH CHAVEZ. Clarida had a great game and scored 28 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Meanwhile, CHAVEZ was balling out in the loss, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Mountain View Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for DCP Alum Rock, they pushed their record up to 8-7 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Mountain View Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like DCP Alum Rock struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 30.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
