The Cathedral Fighting Irish will head out on the road to challenge the Clint Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Cathedral is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Chapin on Wednesday. They came up short against the Huskies, falling 9-1.
Cathedral saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Diego Ledezma, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Clint, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 13-9 win over Gadsden on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Lions as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Daniel Ochoa and Mario Pacheco did most of the damage at the plate: Ochoa went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Pacheco went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI Pacheco has posted since back in April of 2024. Oscar Maldonado also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.
Clint always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gadsden only posted an OBP of .316.
Clint's record now sits at 7-9-1. As for Cathedral, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cathedral hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .334. However, it's not like Clint struggles in that department as they've averaged .350. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cathedral came out on top in a nail-biter against Clint when the teams last played back in April of 2023, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cathedral since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
