The Sayre Spartans put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Bethlehem 46-21. Considering Sayre has won seven matches by more than 24 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Luke Pennington was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 227 yards and five touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Travis Smith, who rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown.
Sayre's win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-0. As for Bethlehem, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.
Sayre will be playing in front of their home fans against Fairview at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fairview will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Sayre is ranked 81st). As for Bethlehem, they will head out on the road to face off against Caverna at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
