Natomas has been on the road for three straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Valley Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Natomas was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 56-51 to West Campus.
Despite the defeat, Natomas saw an underclassman step up: Aeron Wallace scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius Hemmingway, who scored five points along with 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Natomas were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Campus only racked up five assists.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Valley, who are still winless after their 20th contest. They took a serious blow against Foothill on Monday, falling 61-20. While losing is never fun, Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1248th, while Foothill is ranked 588th).
Natomas' defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Valley, their defeat was their eighth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-20.
Everything came up roses for Natomas against Valley in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 73-25 victory. Does Natomas have another victory up their sleeve, or will Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
