Sheldon not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 4th (when they won 16-2). They put the hurt on the Monterey Trail Mustangs with a sharp 13-3 victory. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.
Micah Kennedy made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Sheldon got a massive performance out of Sinitalela Heleta, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Heleta a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Miyani Marshall, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Sheldon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .459. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monterey Trail only posted a batting average of .148.
Sheldon has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Monterey Trail, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-11.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Sheldon will challenge rival Franklin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Monterey Trail is set to face off against their familiar foe Pleasant Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mustangs 4.1, the Eagles 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
