Melbourne's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 49-33 to Sebastian River. Melbourne has not had much luck with the Sharks recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Meanwhile, East River didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Lions on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 38-34 victory. The victory was just what East River needed coming off of a 56-24 loss in their prior game.
It was another big night for Yariana Lugo Perez, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of East River's points. Another player making a difference was Keilani Serrano, who scored four points along with three steals.
Melbourne's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for East River, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.
