Ella Sharp put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Gentry Kirkland made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI.
Meanwhile, De Leon entered their tilt with Santo on Tuesday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victor by a 12-6 margin over the Wildcats. Considering the Bearcats have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brooklyn Barnes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaitlyn Hodges, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Gonzales, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
De Leon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.
De Leon pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.2 runs over those games. As for Lipan, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lipan has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like De Leon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lipan skirted past De Leon 3-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Lipan repeat their success, or does De Leon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
