Basketball Recap: Marian Picks Up Tenth Consecutive Win

Marian waltzed into their game on Saturday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 55-54 win over the Beaumont United Timberwolves. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 50-36 last Thursday.

Ehud Tesfaye continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 14 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Malik Whitfield, who posted five points and five rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Beaumont United lost, don't look at Ashton Green. Despite the final result, he went 10 of 18 on his way to 26 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Green a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Anderson, who had nine points and eight rebounds.

Marian's record now sits at 11-3. As for Beaumont United, they dropped their record down to 11-4 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Marian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-58 victory against Sam Houston on the 14th. Beaumont United and Sterling will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sterling will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Beaumont United surely won't give up without a fight.
