Ainsley Tippen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Ella Tolley was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Kendyl Griffin was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Baptist Prep entered their tilt with Two Rivers on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Gators a 15-0 shutout. The Eagles' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.
Like Perryville, Baptist Prep also got a great game from a two-way player: Macy Childers. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Childers was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Baptist Prep got a massive performance out of Addison Highfill, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run was Highfill's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mollie Bennett, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three runs.
Baptist Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Two Rivers only managed one hit.
Baptist Prep's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Perryville, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Perryville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .544. However, it's not like Baptist Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .507. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
