The Zane Trace Pioneers will square off against the Piketon Redstreaks at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Zane Trace barely beat Westfall the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pioneers were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Mustangs on Monday. Considering the Pioneers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Brynn Wipert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Piketon waltzed into their contest on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bearcats a 10-0 shutout. The Redstreaks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Aubrey Heath, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Briar Penwell, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Piketon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paint Valley only posted an OBP of .100.
Piketon's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Zane Trace, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.
