Baseball Recap: Derby Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

Derby barely beat Salina South the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers never let the Cougars get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Friday. Considering the Panthers have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Kasen Webb was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Webb was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Webb wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Williams, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs Williams has posted since back in April of 2025.

The victory made it two in a row for Derby and bumps their season record up to 10-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Salina South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.

Looking ahead, Derby will welcome Valley Center on Tuesday. As for Salina South, they will head out on the road to take on Haysville Campus at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colts have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.63 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
