The Chowchilla Tribe lost against the Fresno Christian Eagles back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Chowchilla was dealt a 87-26 defeat at the hands of Fresno Christian. While losing is never fun, Chowchilla can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 858th, while Fresno Christian is ranked 338th).
When it comes to explaining why Chowchilla lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ryan Deatherage. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points. Deatherage is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Tristan Beardsley was another key contributor, scoring three points.
Chowchilla has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. As for Fresno Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
Chowchilla won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Mariposa County at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Mariposa County will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Fresno Christian, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Riverdale at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Riverdale is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
