The Washington Patriots will head out to face off against the Hedgesville Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Washington had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Musselman on Monday. The Patriots blew past the Applemen 13-3. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Robby Lopez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Marshall Derrick, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
Washington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Musselman only posted an OBP of .200.
Meanwhile, Hedgesville waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Lions as they made off with a 13-6 win.
Mason Elliott made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Austin Manor was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Landon Pence, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Washington has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Hedgesville, their record now sits at 17-8.
Washington might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Hedgesville in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
