District 10 Region 1 A recap Oct. 16, 2012
West Middlesex extended the longest winning streak in District 10 Region 1 A this week by beating Sharon, 41-21. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Big Reds.
Conneaut Area moved up to 285 from 334 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Conneaut Area was able to make the jump by beating Eisenhower 41-21.
West Middlesex's Trey Staunch and Sage Pope have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Staunch has thrown for 845 yards this season, while Pope, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 25 catches for 317 yards. Blake Reddick from Lakeview leads the league in rushing with 1048 yards.
Jason McElhaney's team's Luke Patten needs only 100 yards against Kennedy Catholic next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Patten has rushed for 900 yards on 129 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in District 10 Region 1 A this week will be when the Sailors take on Sharpsville. At the moment, Lakeview is in third, while the Blue Devils are in second.
