Baseball Recap: Firth Beats Salmon for Their Fourth Straight Win

Firth extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping their season record up to 13-5 in the process. Everything went their way against the Salmon Savages as they made off with a 10-2 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Tonk Perry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits.

On the hitting side, Firth let Darrell Vasquez and Cooper Park run wild. Vasquez went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Park went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Park has posted over his last 11 games. Another player making a difference was Grant Vasquez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Firth hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matchups.

As for Salmon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6-1 record this season. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Salmon's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Thomas Baumer, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Baumer has hit this season.

Coming up, Firth will venture away from home to take on Challis at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. Salmon will be paying especially close attention to Firth's game: after Firth faces off against Challis, they'll take on Salmon again at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
