Boyle County is 8-2 against Marion County since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Rebels will be playing in front of their home fans against the Knights at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Boyle County has six straight victories, Marion County has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Boyle County barely beat Lincoln County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rebels' pitchers stepped up to hand the Patriots a 9-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Rebels have won seven matchups by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Logan Perry made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Austin Bodner was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Boyle County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Caleb Branam, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Boyle County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln County only posted a batting average of .087.
Marion County had taken Green County down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Knights fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Knights have lost by just one run.
Like Boyle County, Marion County also got a great game from a two-way player: Noah Spalding. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). What's more, Spalding gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Boyle County pushed their record up to 12-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Marion County, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
Boyle County took their win against Marion County when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 14-2 score. Do the Rebels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
