The Mesa Verde Mavericks lost against the Woodland Wolves back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Mesa Verde fell 38-27 to Woodland. It was the first time this season that Mesa Verde let down their fans at home.
Mesa Verde's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Jake Miller, who rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Luis Serrato, who rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Woodland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joe Abarca, who threw for 318 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Cadotte jr, who picked up 146 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Mesa Verde has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Woodland, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-8.
Mesa Verde will square off against Center at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Center presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mesa Verde in California (Center is ranked 363rd, while Mesa Verde is ranked 852nd). Woodland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
