Maiden (N.C.) 41-14 on the strength of a superb game by dual threat quarterback

After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Surratt to
Damarius Valentine in the second quarter, the Mustangs were up 14-7 at the half.
East Lincoln grew its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. EL scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Surratt.
The Denver school locked in the win by scoring 13 points in the fourth quarter to push the final margin to 27.
The Blue Devils came in surrendering 15.8 points per game this season. Maiden had a hard time against East Lincoln's offense, who entered the game scoring 10.5 points per game. East Lincoln came into the game allowing 13.3 points per game. Maiden's 14 points were well below its season average of 35.0 per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Maiden, who notched a 35-0 victory over Forbush in its previous outing. The loss snapped Maiden's two-game winning streak.
