The Elkhorn South Storm were the 69-38 winner over the Kearney Bearcats when they last played one another back in February of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Elkhorn South had to suffer through a rough 79-48 loss at the hands of Kearney.
Elkhorn South's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Aidan Skradis, who scored 22 points, and Owen Musil who scored 7 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Schwarz, who scored 6 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kearney to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ben Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Asher Endorf, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Elkhorn South's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Kearney, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Elkhorn South will take on Pius X at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for Kearney, they will head out on the road to face off against Millard North at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Millard North focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Thursday.
