Football Recap: Lakewood Has No Trouble Against St. Anthony

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Carlsbad, Lakewood was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 35-14 margin over the St. Anthony Saints. The high-scoring effort was just what the Lancers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Kade Casillas went supernova, throwing for 340 yards and three TDs while picking up 14.2 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 122 yards and one score on only six carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 66 yards. Kenny Niumatavaelu was another key player, picking up 143 receiving yards and one touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lakewood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 305 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

The win got Lakewood back to even at 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakewood will challenge Edison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Anthony, they will head out to take on Torrance at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
