Basketball Game Preview: Fountain Central Mustangs vs. South Vermillion Wildcats

The Fountain Central Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the South Vermillion Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fountain Central's defense has only allowed 29.6 points per game this season, so South Vermillion's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Fountain Central is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Parke Heritage just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost to the Wolves on the road by a 43-29 margin.

Kaylee Spragg put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted nine points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards she has posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, South Vermillion was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 46th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 60-36 to Riverton Parke. One positive for the Wildcats, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Fountain Central's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-4. As for South Vermillion, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-22.

Everything came up roses for Fountain Central against South Vermillion in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 49-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fountain Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
