Softball Recap: Thomaston Has No Trouble Against Terryville

Thomaston never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Terryville Kangaroos with a sharp 19-0 win. Considering the Bears have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sloan Walmsley made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Walmsley was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Thomaston got a massive performance out of Addison Patchell, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-5. Those six RBI gave Patchell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aylin Lahey, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and one triple.

Thomaston has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Terryville, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Looking ahead, Thomaston will square off against Granby Memorial at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Granby Memorial's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Thomaston's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Terryville, they will challenge Gilbert-Northwestern Regional at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Yellowjackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13 runs per game on average), something the Kangaroos will no doubt try to take advantage of.
