The West Clermont Wolves waltzed into their match Thursday with five straight wins but they left with six. They strolled past Little Miami with points to spare, taking the game 54-37. Given West Clermont's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while Little Miami is ranked 343rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Clermont to victory, but perhaps none more so than Layla Hale, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Hale has scored at least 25% of West Clermont's points. Taylor Schmidt was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
West Clermont is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. As for Little Miami, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
West Clermont will face off against Varsity Opponent at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. As for Little Miami, they will head out on the road to face off against Walnut Hills at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
