Rutland is 1-9 against Central since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Rutland Hurricanes will head out on the road to face off against the Central Chargers at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Rutland really took it to Wilkinson County for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-37 victory on the road. With Rutland ahead 45-24 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Rutland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Michael Simmons, who scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Elijah Brooks, who scored 19 points.
Meanwhile, Central had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 50-42 victory over Kendrick on Tuesday. The win was just what Central needed coming off of a 66-39 defeat in their prior match.
Rutland's win bumped their season record to 3-2 while Wilkinson County's defeat dropped theirs to 0-4.
Rutland came up short against Central in their previous meeting back in February, falling 50-46. Can Rutland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
