Basketball Recap: Lancaster's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

There's no place like home for Lancaster, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They came out on top against the Santa Clara Saints by a score of 64-55 on Monday. The win was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Lancaster had a senior duo take command as Keelan Benjamin posted 19 points and Alvaro Martinez put up 17 points. Those 17 points gave Martinez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shondra Henderson, who earned ten points.

Despite the defeat, Santa Clara had strong showings from Sebastian Macias, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 17 points and eight rebounds, and Gio Gude, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Perez Jr, who had seven points.

Lancaster's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Santa Clara, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Lancaster wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-56 win against Palmdale on the 4th. As for Santa Clara, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-54 loss against Canoga Park on the 3rd.
