Softball Recap: Donelson Christian Academy Makes It Five in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Donelson Christian Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Goodpasture Christian Cougars on Monday. Considering the Wildcats have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Bailey Goad was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Heather Scales was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Gracyn White was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Donelson Christian Academy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Goodpasture Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.

Coming up, Donelson Christian Academy will take on Nashville Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Goodpasture Christian, they will challenge Ezell-Harding Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.31 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
