This season hasn't been kind to the Lordstown Red Devils, who are still winless after their 16th contest. They were beaten by St. John 59-16 on Thursday. Lordstown has struggled against St. John recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
St. John got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was alyssa cevera out in front who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 17 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which cevera has scored at least a third of St. John's points. The team also got some help courtesy of gracie disalvatore, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Lordstown dropped their record down to 0-16 with that defeat, which was their 20th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for St. John, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lordstown will take on Chalker at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Chalker has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 30. As for St. John, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Maplewood at 5:30 p.m. on January 29th. Hopefully Maplewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Saturday.
