The Los Alamos Hilltoppers couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of St. Michael's by a score of 56-53. Los Alamos has struggled against St. Michael's recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
St. Michael's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elsie Odai, who scored 11 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariella Ruiz, who scored 8 points along with 11 rebounds and 3 steals.
Los Alamos' loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for St. Michael's, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Los Alamos will take on Del Norte at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Del Norte focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday. As for St. Michael's, they will be playing at home against Rio Rancho at 9:30 a.m. on Friday.
