Ponder Gets a Boost from Price in 36-26 Win
Starting off the list is Ponder's Tyson Price, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Price threw for 204 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes, and also rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing a fumble, making nine total tackles, and defending a pass.
For the year, Price has thrown 22 touchdowns while averaging 271.1 passing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he had 12 passing touchdowns.

A Season-Best Effort from Carson Schoppa Leads Vernon over Boyd
On Friday, Vernon got the W thanks in part to Carson Schoppa playing the best football he has all season. Schoppa rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 80 yards.
Vernon is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Schoppa and Vernon will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Bowie at 7:00 p.m. on October 25th.

Johnny Arellano Crosses Big Stat Threshold
Ponder was led to victory by Johnny Arellano, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Arellano rushed for 178 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. The performance once again pushed his average rushing yardage north of 100 yards per game (109.3). He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 55 yards.
For the season, Arellano has run in 8 touchdowns while averaging 109.3 rushing yards per game.

Maddox Parks Turns in Season-Best Effort
Boyd came up short on Friday despite Maddox Parks delivering his best game to date. Parks rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making 11 total tackles and defending a pass.
Boyd is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. Parks and Boyd will face off against Bowie on Friday.

Hunter Etter Delivers Best Performance of Season
Sadly, Hunter Etter posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Boyd over Vernon on Friday. Etter picked up 158 receiving yards and a touchdown. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 97 yards.
This year, Etter has caught 3 touchdowns while averaging 81 receiving yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after six games last season, he was only averaging 15.83 receiving yards per game.
