If the Claude Mustangs were feeling good off their 62-9 takedown of the Hedley Owls last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Claude was outmatched by Valley at home and fell 71-36. While losing is never fun, Claude can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 799th, while Valley is ranked 92nd).
Trinity Schlueter was her usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with six rebounds and four steals for Valley. That makes it four consecutive games in which Schlueter has scored at least a third of Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Ferrel, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Claude's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Valley, the victory was the 29th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 29-2.
Claude does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Valley is on the road again on Tuesday and plays Groom at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th. Valley is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.2 points per game this season.
