The Hallsville Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 26 points or more this season. They really took it to North Callaway for the full four quarters, racking up a 77-47 win on the road. Given Hallsville's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while North Callaway is ranked 380th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the defeat, North Callaway had strong showings from Sam Pezold, who scored 15 points along with five steals, and Isiah Craighead, who scored 18 points. The game was Craighead's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Erik Blair, who scored four points.
Hallsville's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for North Callaway, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.
After both having extra time off, Hallsville and Moberly will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Hopefully Moberly focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Friday. North Callaway will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Callaway at 8:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
