Basketball Game Preview: Andover Trojans vs. Salina Central Mustangs

Andover has gone 10-0 against Salina Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Andover Trojans will challenge the Salina Central Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Andover knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Salina Central likes a good challenge.

Andover is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Newton: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Andover blew Newton out of the water with a 63-33 final score. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 26 points or more this season.

Owen Allman was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Walker McClellan, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds.

Andover smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Salina Central suffered their biggest loss since February 20, 2024 on Friday. 2025 welcomed they with a 73-52 loss courtesy of Valley Center. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Andover's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Salina Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Andover didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Salina Central when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 65-61 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Andover since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
