The Sayre Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by East Carter at home and fell 56-28. While losing is never fun, Sayre can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while East Carter is ranked 95th).
Kinsley Rutledge was her usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and five steals for East Carter. The contest was Rutledge's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Hall, who scored 11 points.
Sayre's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-9. As for East Carter, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Sayre and Eminence will face off at 1:00 p.m. on December 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
