The Whitmer Panthers will challenge the Elmwood Royals at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Whitmer's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while Elmwood has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
It was a proper cat-fight when Whitmer faced off against Bowling Green on Monday. The Panthers fell 7-4 to the Bobcats.
Raegan Lapoint was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Elmwood earned a 5-2 win over Van Buren on Wednesday.
Cheyenne Podach looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Trinity Sander was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Libbie Tyson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Whitmer's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Elmwood, their victory bumped their record up to 17-4.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Whitmer hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. However, it's not like Elmwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .399. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Whitmer was able to grind out a solid win over Elmwood when the teams last played back in March of 2025, winning 3-0. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Royals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
