With a playoff game on the line, Melbourne Central Catholic rose to the challenge on Friday. They really took it to the Knights for the full four quarters, racking up a 37-0 victory at home. The result was nothing new for Melbourne Central Catholic, who have now won seven matches by 20 points or more so far this season.
Melbourne Central Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brian Oesterle led the charge by rushing for 129 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Oesterle really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Allen, who threw for 131 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Trinity Catholic took their matchup at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 55-7 win over Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy. The victory was just what Trinity Catholic needed coming off of a 42-20 defeat in their prior match.
Melbourne Central Catholic pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.5 points per game. As for Trinity Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.
