The Minneapolis South Tigers will face off against the St. Paul Central Minutemen at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Minneapolis South is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Minneapolis South barely beat North the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Polars a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.
The result came thanks to Micaiah Hendricks's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Forrest Ryan was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those runs marked the first that he has scored this season. Milo Pfahl was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
Minneapolis South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, St. Paul Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 12-2 to Tartan.
St. Paul Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Minneapolis South, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
St. Paul Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Minneapolis South hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. It's a different story for St. Paul Central, though, as they've only averaged .213. Will they be able to contain Minneapolis South's hitters?
Minneapolis South was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Paul Central when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 11-6. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Minutemen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
