The Boulder Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 48-41 to Legacy. Boulder has not had much luck with Legacy recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Boulder's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gaby Mccollester, who scored six points along with 14 rebounds. Mccollester is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games she's played. Lexi Oder was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Boulder struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Legacy racked up 13 assists.
Leading Legacy to victory were Meghan Allshouse and Olivia Mortensen. Allshouse scored 13 points along with eight assists and two steals, while Mortensen scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Allshouse posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Gianna Schmidt, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Boulder's defeat was their 11th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.0 points per game. As for Legacy, their win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-10.
Boulder and Poudre will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Legacy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Prairie View at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Prairie View is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
