The Ponca City Wildcats and the Muskogee Roughers squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Ponca City Wildcats had to settle for second. Ponca City ended up on the wrong side of a tough 34-10 walloping at the hands of Muskogee. While losing is never fun, Ponca City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Muskogee is ranked 19th).
Latavion Johnson was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Another player making a difference was Ondraye Beasley, who gained 85 total yards and a touchdown.
Ponca City's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Muskogee, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Ponca City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Muskogee is on the road again on Friday and play against Deer Creek. Deer Creek is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
