Meanwhile, Lee County lost to Thomas County Central on the road by a 35-21 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked seventh).
The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Jordan Bush and Christian Lawrence. Lawrence had a great game and gained 264 total yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Bush was balling out in the loss, rushing for 105 yards and one score, while also throwing for 197 yards and one touchdown.
Lee County's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Coffee, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Coffee has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 178.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Lee County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 169.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Coffee was taken down by Lee County 48-14 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for Coffee, Weston Bryan (who rushed for 179 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 155 yards and one touchdown) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
