Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Southwest Florida Christian

Southwest Florida Christian entered their tilt with Everglades City on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Gators. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 19-1 back in March.

Braelyn Davis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adrianna Thorne, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kaley Fleischer, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Southwest Florida Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Southwest Florida Christian pushed their record up to 10-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Everglades City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.

Southwest Florida Christian will venture away from home to face off against Oasis at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The King's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sharks have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Everglades City, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Lely at 7:00 p.m.
