Baseball Recap: Perkins Comes Up Short

Perkins couldn't beat St. Francis de Sales on Monday even though they stacked five runs on them in the seventh inning. The Pirates fell just short of the Knights by a score of 11-10. The Pirates' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Perkins got a good showing from Josh Cummings, who tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Cummings gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Kash Koch was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Braxden Martin was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Perkins' loss dropped their record down to 17-8. As for St. Francis de Sales, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.

Perkins will challenge Northview at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for St. Francis de Sales, they will take on Springfield at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
