Winnfield blew past Jonesboro-Hodge, posting a 70-39 win on the road. Given Winnfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Jonesboro-Hodge is ranked 327th), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Winnfield to victory were Cl Davis and Decavian Duncan. Davis scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Duncan scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Davis has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylon Jackson, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Winnfield is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Jonesboro-Hodge, they are on a 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winnfield will take on Lakeview at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeview knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Winnfield likes a good challenge. As for Jonesboro-Hodge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Many at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Many is hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses.
