The Burlington Demons will venture away from home to challenge the St. Joseph Lancers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. St. Joseph took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Burlington, who comes in off a win.
Burlington not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 19, 2024 (when they won 17-0). Their pitcher stepped up to hand South Milwaukee an 11-0 shutout.

Carter Baumeister made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Trey Kerkhoff and Gavin Caliva did most of the damage at the plate: Kerkhoff went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Caliva went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Caliva has posted since back in April. Carter Behling also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Burlington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for St. Joseph's offense. They fell just short of Hartford by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The match marked the first time this season in which the Lancers were not able to get on the board.
St. Joseph saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Patrick Davidson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Burlington has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-14 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for St. Joseph, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-5.
Burlington was able to grind out a solid win over St. Joseph in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, winning 12-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Demons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
