If the Montrose Red Hawks were feeling good off their 53-33 takedown of the Palisade Bulldogs last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Montrose fell 57-44 to Glenwood Springs on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Montrose came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Glenwood Springs is ranked 123rd).
Despite the loss, Montrose still got an impressive performance from Kaleb Ferguson, who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Jaxon Kattner was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Sim Wenger was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with six rebounds and four steals for Glenwood Springs. That makes it three consecutive games in which Wenger has scored at least a third of Glenwood Springs' points. Another player making a difference was Alec Claassen, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and four steals.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Montrose will take on Eagle Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Glenwood Springs, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Palisade at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Hunter Howard and Wenger.
