It was a good run, but the Ocoee Knights unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They were beaten by Colonial 56-27. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Ocoee has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Ocoee still got an impressive performance from Micah Hannah, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Hannah is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Paris Triplett, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Ocoee struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Colonial racked up 11 assists.
Colonial got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Carmen Richardson out in front who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Bocca, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Ocoee's loss dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Colonial, they pushed their record up to 19-2 with that win, which was their 14th straight at home.
Ocoee will take on Edgewater at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Edgewater will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while Ocoee is ranked 50th). Colonial won't have much time to rest: their next match is against St. Thomas Aquinas at 4:00 p.m. on January 20th.
