The Juab Wasps will take on the Grantsville Cowboys at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Juab is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.
Juab is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over American Leadership Academy.
Corbin Buchanan looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, Connor Cowan was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Luke Marostica, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Juab was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in eight consecutive games.
Grantsville let Delta stack seven runs on them in the seventh inning on Friday but luckily Grantsville prevailed anyway. The Cowboys came out on top against the Rabbits by a score of 14-11. The Cowboys haven't had any issues with the Rabbits recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Grantsville also got a great performance from Mason Butler as he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk).
At the plate, Grantsville let Cooper Castagno and Krue Warren run wild. Castagno went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Warren got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Grantsville is undefeated when Castagno posts two or more runs, but 7-11 otherwise. Patton Rose was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Juab's victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Grantsville, their record is now 13-11.
Juab couldn't quite get it done against Grantsville in their previous matchup back in May of 2021 as they fell 5-0. Can the Wasps avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
