Basketball Recap: Mansfield Timberview Takes a Loss

In Friday's Canine Competition, Mansfield Timberview had to take the L. They fell just short of the Everman Bulldogs by a score of 52-50 on Friday. The Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.

Despite the loss, Mansfield Timberview still got an impressive performance from Dani Milliner, who went 8 of 14 on her way to 24 points and six rebounds. Milliner is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Andrea McGriff, who posted six points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Mansfield Timberview was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive matches.

Mansfield Timberview's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 14-11. As for Everman, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mansfield Timberview will face off against Cleburne at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Everman, they will square off against Centennial at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Centennial has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 197 points over their last three games.
