The Central Baptist Swordsmen pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were the victim of a tough 86-63 loss at the hands of Franklin Road Christian. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Central Baptist in their matchups with Franklin Road Christian: they've now lost five in a row.
Noah Pence was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with eight rebounds and six assists for Franklin Road Christian. Pence is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ben Walker, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds.
Central Baptist has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Franklin Road Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Baptist's road trip will continue as they head out to face Victory Baptist Academy at 11:00 a.m. on January 27th. As for Franklin Road Christian, they will challenge Riverside Christian Academy at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Riverside Christian Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
