On Friday Mansfield will take on Cedarville at 7:00 PM. Mansfield don't have the home-field advantage, but they do enjoy an advantage in the MaxPreps rankings.
Mansfield came into their this week averaging 30.29 points per game, but Mansfield fell well short of that average, and it cost them. They took a 7-15 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lamar. A silver lining for Mansfield was the play of junior Ethan Stovall, who accumulated 181 passing yards and picked up 31 yards on the ground. Stovall has now scored at least one touchdown in the past eight games.
Meanwhile, Cedarville were averaging 32.29 points per game entering their match last Friday, but they just couldn't find their rhythm against Greenland. Cedarville found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 8-36 punch to the gut against Greenland. The state rankings had actually given Cedarville a slight edge heading into the game, making this hurt that much more.
With the two teams each stumbling in off of a loss, both will be hungry for the win. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so their meeting could be a low-scoring affair.
