The Plains Cowboys''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by New Home at home and fell 77-14. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Plains in their matchups with New Home: they've now lost six in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Plains lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tyler Vargas. Despite the final result, he threw for 211 yards and two touchdowns.
New Home got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Logan Addison out in front who rushed for 61 yards and four touchdowns on only five carries, and also picked up 77 receiving yards. Nevin Mojica was another key contributor, rushing for 151 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
Plains' loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 5-3 Morton and 5-3 Sudan (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.5% over those games). As for New Home, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plains will take on Ropes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ropes will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for New Home, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Morton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Morton is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
